Most people think that good vision only involves reading small letters on a chart. In fact this is only a very important tiny fraction of your total vision in the centre of your visual field. The remainder of your vision is tested using a visual field analyser, also called a perimeter. The problem with most visual field testing is that it takes around 5 minutes per eye looking at a white screen and pressing a button when you see a light.
At optoMED we now have the latest, fastest, most accurate visual field screener which only takes around 2 minutes per eye. If you’ve ever done one of these tests at another optometry practice you will probably remember how hard it is to concentrate for 6 minutes each eye. In fact sometimes people almost fall asleep during the test.
